GB3IN Internet Repeater and EchoLink Radio Software

For the non Radio Amateurs visiting this page a Repeater is usually a remote control device located on a Geographically
High altitude location.
Its sole purpose is to allow Radio Amateurs to communicate over far greater distances than normal
by Re-Transmitting their signals.
Normally used on VHF and UHF frequencies a repeater can allow two or more MOBILE Radio Amateurs
(in their vehicles or with a hand held radio) to communicate over far greater than normal distances.

Now on to GB3IN..

GB3IN has the facility to link two or more amateurs anywhere on Earth by using either Radio or an Internet connection at either end.
Read more about this facility on the web site or search the Internet for INTERNET REPEATER or ECHOLINK

Basically... these days you don't even need a Radio to be an active Radio Amateur..
all you need is an Officially issued Callsign ... (don't try to make one up by the way... all Callsigns are automatically checked On-Line for validity)
and a PC with Internet access and a soundcard with Microphone / speakers !!!
